Sellsy API, Launched two years ago, has been extremely successful and has become a preferred means of access to Sellsy for many of our customers.
If you don't already know, the API allows other applications to communicate to Sellsy using scripts. This feature is often used to do reporting or to make a mobile application.
Depending on their domain, many of our customers use it for coding to create a more simplified interfaces to manage their orders or their inventory, for example.
However, it lacked one essential function- Webhooks.
This technical term refers to the ability for Sellsy to alert an outside application of a change in the Sellsy database.
To simplify, before, the scripts had to ask Sellsy regularly (for example every 5 minutes) to be aware of any changes.
Now, Sellsy is able to instantly notify you when data is updated, greatly simplifying the integration of the API with your other systems.
To take a very simple example, imagine that you live on the sixth floor, and you're awaiting an urgent mail. You go down regularly to check the mailbox to see if your long-awaited package has arrived. To waste less time, you install an intercom system so that the postman can automatically notify you when your package arrives.
Webhooks does the same thing as that intercom. There is no need to check for changes all the time, you are automatically alerted when something occurs.
Note that the Webhook system has been coded on the basis of Sellsy's notification system so you can have webhooks for more than 380 different types of occurrences.
How do I use webhooks and the API? Who can I contact if I do not know anything about it?
The API allows many projects to complete or connect Sellsy. Here are some concrete examples:
For a Business / Interface view
With the API, you can create a fully customizable view of customers and orders, for example on a tablet. Many customers have created their own Sellsy-based applications for mobility.
For a connection
If you use other tools, it may be worthwhile to sync them with Sellsy. For example, if you have a central ERP and want to sync its data with Sellsy, it's possible, with the API.
As an export tool
For one reason or another, you may need a particular export not feasible with Sellsy. With the API you can access all your data with great freedom and export them to your liking. Many customers use the API to schedule regular internal backups of their Sellsy data.
Of course, the API remains a tool for developers. If you do not have this expertise internally, we have a network of highly skilled external developers who can handle projects for you of all sizes.
Some have focused their expertise on CMS like Wordpress (and Woocommerce), Prestashop, or Magento.
